Tomorrow at 7:20am I will be on a plane along with 29 others on my way to the country of Haiti. We're on our way to spend the night in Detroit at an airport hotel. It's hard to wrap my mind around going; I watched a documentary about child slavery the other night that took place in Haiti. It was surreal to see footage of the country I'd be visiting. The land is so beautiful and tropical, and yet there's trash and people living in shed like homes. With people selling children for $150. How sick is that?!

So, I'm excited, scared, and hopeful. I know I won' t come back the same.

Friday!

This Friday, overflow is hosting the Summer Break BBQ! Matt has been working day and night to get this event together. I was unable to go last year, I think our wedding shower happened on the same night, but this year I will be there. Can't wait.

home sweet home

I spent this past weekend in the Toledo, Bedford, Petersburg area. It was so much fun hanging out with my mom and sisters; we spent most of the weekend together. Friday, we got to hang out with Joel and Ashton, Leah babysat so Pete and Brianne could go out minus the children. Both Joel and Ashton are very cute and funny. My favorite was watching Joel feed Ashton’s baby snacks to the dog…classic. On Saturday, we went to the park and sat around for about two hours and walked for about 15 minutes. Then headed to my family’s favorite restaurant, Don Pablo’s, where we ate at least 12 baskets of chips. And Sunday I went to one of my favorite places, Bedford Christian Community. For seven years BCC was my home church, and for three years I had the privilege of being on staff there. It was happy girly day so Wendy spoke (go Wendy, you rock!). She preached such an encouraging message. Then Sunday afternoon I went to my parents’ house and again we ate together.
What a refreshing weekend.
